چکیده

First we give a short description of the Extended Linear Complementarity Problem (ELCP), which is a mathematical programming problem. We brieey discuss how this problem can be used in the analysis of discrete event systems and continuous variable systems. Next we show that the ELCP can also be used to model and to analyze hybrid systems. More speciically, we consider a traac-light-controlled intersection , which can be considered as a hybrid system. We construct a model that describes the evolution of the queue lengths in the various lanes (as continuous variables) as a function of time and we show that this leads to an ELCP. Furthermore, it can be shown that some problems in the analysis of another class of hybrid systems, the \complementary-slackness systems", also lead to an ELCP.

Applications of the Extended Linear Complementarity Problem in the Max-plus Algebra

The max-plus algebra is one of the frameworks that can be used to model discrete event systems. We show that many fundamental problems in the maxplus algebra can be reformulated as a mathematical programming problem: the Extended Linear Complementarity Problem.

State space transformations and state space realization in the max algebra

The topics of this paper are state space transformations and the (partial) state space problem in the max algebra, which is one of the modeling frameworks that can be used to model discrete event systems. We use the fact that a system of multivariate max-algebraic polynomial equations can be transformed into an Extended Linear Complementarity Problem to perform state space transformations and t...

Minimal state space realization of MIMO systems in the max algebra

The topic of this paper is the (partial) minimal realization problem in the max algebra, which is one of the modeling frameworks that can be used to model discrete event systems. We use the fact that a system of multivariate max-algebraic polynomial equalities can be transformed into an Extended Linear Complementarity Problem to find all equivalent minimal state space realizations of a multiple...

The singular value decomposition in the extended max algebra is an extended linear complementarity problem ∗

We show that the problem of finding a singular value decomposition of a matrix in the extended max algebra can be reformulated as an Extended Linear Complementarity Problem. This allows us to compute all the max-algebraic singular value decompositions of a matrix. This technique can also be used to calculate many other max-algebraic matrix decompositions.

Generalized linear complementarity problems and the analysis of continuously variable systems and discrete event systems

We present an overview of our research on the use of generalized linear complementarity problems (LCPs) for analysis of continuously variable systems and discrete event systems. We indicate how the Generalized LCP can be used to analyze piecewise-linear resistive electrical circuits. Next we discuss how the Extended LCP can be used to solve some fundamental problems that arise in max-algebraic ...
